Ingredients
Scale
- 2 ripe avocados, peeled and pitted
- 1/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/4 cup maple syrup or honey (adjust to taste)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt
- 1–2 tbsp almond milk or any other plant-based milk (optional, for consistency)
- Fresh berries or chopped nuts for garnish (optional)
Instructions
- Blend: In a blender or food processor, combine the avocados, cocoa powder, maple syrup or honey, vanilla extract, and salt. Blend until smooth and creamy.
- Adjust Consistency: If the mousse is too thick, add almond milk, one tablespoon at a time, blending after each addition until you reach your desired consistency.
- Chill: Transfer the mousse to individual serving dishes and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to set.
- Serve: Before serving, garnish with fresh berries or chopped nuts if desired.
Notes
- The ripeness of the avocados is crucial for this recipe. Overripe avocados may have a stronger avocado flavor, while underripe ones won’t blend as smoothly.
- Adjust the sweetness based on your preference. You can also use other sweeteners like agave nectar or stevia.
- This mousse is best consumed within 24 hours but can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
