Description
Get ready to make chewing gum at home! This homemade chewing gum recipe will have you whipping up all sorts of custom flavors in no time. There’s even a second recipe on this page that shows you how to make chewing gum with beeswax.
Ingredients
Scale
- ⅓ cup Glee Gum base
- 3 tablespoons corn syrup
- 1 teaspoon glycerine
- ½ teaspoon citric acid
- 5 drops peppermint flavoring extract
- ¾ cup powdered sugar for the gum base and a little more for dusting
- Additional: Parchment paper cut into 3×3 inch squares
Instructions
- Using a double boiler, heat all ingredients except the powdered sugar over medium-high heat. Stir occasionally until the gum mixture becomes gooey.
- Set aside a tablespoon of powdered sugar.
- Make a well out of the rest of the powdered sugar and pour the gum base into the well.
- Dust your fingers with powdered sugar and knead the gum base mixture to combine it with the powdered sugar you made into a well.
- Knead for 15 minutes and add a little more powdered sugar if necessary. You need to achieve a dough that is soft and pliable. If the gum dough is still sticky, keep adding powdered sugar. You will know the gum is ready if it becomes smooth and stiff.
- Roll the gum dough into thin ropes.
- Cut the gum into bite-sized pieces.
- Dust the gum with powdered sugar and wrap in squared parchment paper
